ONCOblot® Test in Lafayette, IN

Oncoblot test in Lafayette , IN

Cancer is the second most common cause of death in the U.S., exceeding only that of heart disease, and accounting for nearly 1 in every 4 deaths. Beginning at the cellular level, cancer compromises the building blocks of your body, causing dysfunctional cells to grow and form malignant tumors which can invade and infect the rest of the body.

The best way to prevent cancer from forming, or worsening, is early screening that can catch tumors while they are benign (noncancerous) and operable. The ONCOblot® test is a highly-sensitive diagnostic test that can confirm the presence of a variety of cancers even in their early stages. The serum blood test measures the presence of the ENOX2 protein, a protein which is produced by cancer cells and shed into the circulating blood of cancer patients. The ONCOblot® cancer test is non-invasive and can be used to confirm the presence of cancer as an immediate next step following worrisome test results like high PSA, abnormal mammogram or abnormal PET scans and biopsies. ONCOblot® testing is not only used for early cancer detection, but can be used for:

  • Monitoring the recurrence of cancers
  • Identifying cancer of unknown primary (CUP), where the presence of cancer is already known but normal testing cannot determine the site of origin or even primary type of cancer involved
  • Follow-up testing in post-cancer treatments
  • Monitoring targeted high-risk populations

What to Expect from the ONCOblot® Test

The ONCOblot® cancer test can reveal the tissue of origin of the ENOX2 protein isolated—meaning it can identify not only the presence of cancer, but the type of cancer present in your body. The ONCOblot® database corresponds with the following 25+ cancers:

  • Bladder
  • Breast
  • Cervical
  • Colorectal
  • Endometrial
  • Esophageal
  • Gastric
  • Hepatocellular
  • Kidney

The ONCOblot® cancer test is a simple serum blood test. It is an outpatient procedure normally performed in a lab or even in the office of your healthcare provider. The test is typically used in conjunction with other types of cancer testing. There are no special fasting or prep requirements prior to the testing procedures as is often required with other cancer tests.

Candidates for ONCOblot® Testing

The ONCOblot® test can be an invaluable medical diagnostic tool. It is recommended for certain high-risk populations and in certain circumstances, but the test can be administered to anyone who is concerned they might have cancer and is not satisfied that testing done previously was successful in isolating its presence. However, insurance may not cover the ONCOblot® test in all instances. It is commonly recommended for:

  • Cancer-survivors to monitor recurrence of cancer
  • Patients with a cancer of unknown primary (CUP)
  • Cancer patients following treatment to determine success of treatment
  • Patients at high-risk of developing certain cancers due to previous cancers or other high-risk factors.

If you have cancer or are at high-risk for developing certain cancers, the ONCOblot® test is an important test to learn more about. Request more information about the ONCOblot® cancer test today. Call (765) 259-0545 or contact Charles Turner MD online.
